Plot
Jagadish is a killer, who has murdered 96 people in 25 years. His first murder happened in 1978. Kabilan is a writer who released his first book in 1987. While Jagadish is sitting inside a prison cell behind bars for his murders, Kabilan is in conversation with him outside the cell, sitting in a chair. Though their paths are different, Jagadish compares certain things between them and brings out some incidents from his past. He feels killing is an art, like a writer’s writing. Why did he kill people? Was he affected by any trauma? The rest of the story deals with this.
Star Performance
Guru Somasundaram perfectly pitches the role and impresses the audience with his natural performance. Harish Uthaman is quite decent in his portions.
Analysis
The film is a slowly narrated drama that moves half of the story via conversation. Not all the audience would like the layered dialogue. The murderer is not shown as the same actor in all the murders; if one of the murders has Guru, the other one has Harish. This is not quite easy to explain, but one can understand the concept only after watching it. The murderer makes paintings with the blood of the victims and this may irk some audience. The narration is distinct, yet it may confuse the audience who love to watch the films in linear patterns. The BGM is fantastic, and it gels well with the narration. The visuals are okay and the editing is above average.
